WOYWW 449 - lots of ATCs

Good morning/afternoon/evening to you all.  I am here on a Wednesday morning (still dark outside) to show what is on my crafty table - go to Julia's Stamping Ground for more details and a linky thing.

As it is so early, my table is just showing how I left it last night.  There are a few finished ATCs, some scrap pieces of paper that I put in the envies with them to help protect them, and the result of an accident with embossing powder.

Namely, I forgot to put down my usual piece of paper, so that I can neatly tip the unused powder back in the container.  I did it on my craft 'non stick' mat instead, which is not non-stick when it comes to 'Metal Magic'.  It defied all attempts to clean it up - and in the end I grabbed various pieces of paper/card that had leftover paint on them or were from other projects, applied Versa inkpad directly to them and then rubbed in the embossing powder.  Actually turned out to be a good technique and one I will do again - but on top of a piece of paper next time!

There are also some journals/sketchbooks waiting for me to actually do something with them.

Close up of my favourite 'random embossing'

I will be doing a blog post showing the stages in finishing off my first project with Soul Journey 2018 (see last week's WOYWW post for links - a free mixed media community for the whole year, with a fortnightly lesson from amazing crafters) - when I have finished it, which should be today.  I have the new term starting of my Spanish evening class tonight, so a bit of extra revision is needed, and I never know what is going to happen with the farm business to take me away from my craft room.  Hopefully I will have a quiet day.

  2. Like the results of your random embossing! Might have to give that a go.
Spanish eh? Could do with those lessons myself - but this year it will have to be Greek first .. oh heck, oh to be multi-lingual.
Off to check your link for Soul Journey.
Hugs & Thanks for visiting me earlier - Neet xx

  3. Oh Ali, I know that feeling! Love what you did to save being wasteful though. I must go back and grab that link from last week as I didn't have time to check it out last week; between Wanderlust, Mission Inspiration, Nina Ribena's prompts, JJJAMA Tag Tuesday, Tag It Tuesday, Mixed Media Art prompts and others I have loads to get on with. (Glad you joined us on JJJAMA; they are another great bunch!) However another challenge is always worth a look. Can't wait to see your first piece from it. Happy WOYWW Sarah #12

  4. Hiya! Thanks for visiting me already :-D. I'm glad that you've been enjoying some great crafting too - well done for turning the mishap into a triumph! I'm really glad you've been enjoying the challenges and classes, a great way of kick starting some crafting. There don't seem to be many things like that for wool or fabric - or maybe I just haven't looked hard enough! There always seems to be something to make for someone.
Hope you Spanish class goes well and now that life has calmed down a bit, I am determined to come over and meet you for a coffee. How's February looking for you?

  5. I love those happy accidents, Ali. I’ve discovered several useful techniques that way. I have done quite a bit of random embossing (intentionally!) in the past, and love the effect. Great ATCs as well.

Hope you are feeling well today.

    Happy WOYWW,

  16. It sounds like you rescued the situation well. Funny how accidents can turn into new techniques isn't it. Good Luck with the Spanish classes it sounds like you will be putting them to good use if your plans turn out well. Good Luck with it all.

  18. Sorry i’m Late! Hope the Spanish class went well, and did you enjoy your pre Christmas break...horrid of me not have asked sooner. I like the new embossing technique, necessity being the mother of invention and all that. That’s one thing about the heat proof mats, the static they hold is appalling. Love the flamingo images.
