WOYWW 285

Hello to everyone on this windy Wednesday.  Life has been busy for me for the past 2 weeks - plus a nasty cold struck me down, and I am still suffering now.  My craft room is almost empty.  The main rear wall had to be replastered - and the painter is in there now putting colour back on the wall.  As usual for me, everything is last minute.  We have family coming to stay tomorrow, and the contents of my craft room are currently in the spare room!  There will be a lot of moving around later.  Wish me luck!

Looking on the positive side, it does give me the push to really sort out what I HAVE to keep and what can go (whether to be sold or given to the charity shop).

I found myself watching a calligraphy show on Create & Craft last week - and several items fell into my flexi-basket.  This includes some gorgeous wax sealing stash, and I plan to decorate Xmas gifts/envelopes with these.  Will show some of the results next week.

Here is my empty craft room.

If you would like to find out more about WOYWW (What is On Your Workdesk Wednesday), go over to Julia's Stamping Ground

I am off now to tour around a few of your blogs.

  1. What a lovely looking craft room - I love that colour green on the wall, and the lighting looks wonderfully bright and perfect for working in. Bet you can't wait to get it organised! Have a great week and hope you have lots of fun 'playing' with your new stash.

  2. Watching crafting shows is a dangerous occupation, Ali. However, I do try to buy from the original suppliers these days rather that from Create and Craft. I object to their big brother bullying attitude to other crafting channels, like the British Craft Channel on the internet, and their tendency to take over the small companies to control them, like Tattered Lace. My craft room is gradually working all its contents downstairs at the moment, and hopefully, once this cold has gone, I can get things properly sorted out. Hope your cold soon gets going and vanishes. xx Maggie

  4. What an inviting little haven you have for crafting! I like the colour of the wall! Good luck with sorting through your stuff! Be careful not to sell or give away anything you might need later. I had a huge clear out a few years ago and now I really miss some of the items. Thanks for your visit earlier. Have a great week! zsuzsa @ InkyDinkyDoodle

  5. Hope the sorting out gets done before the family arrive! I love having a stash busting sortie now and again, clearing the decks is so therapeutic. Good luck with yours :-)
    Hope your cold disappears soon.....

  6. Wishing you well with getting better from your cold - and hope you keep to your two a day.
I had to smile at your last minute decorating and the thoughts of the state of your guest room. I usually store "C" presents on the spare bed but as we have guests about to arrive guess where they have all ended up? In our bath! Good job we are shower people and the bath is a bit redundant.
Hugs, & Thanks for visiting me earlier - Neet 27 x

  9. Hope you shake that cold off soon. It's certainly been blowy here too. On the plus side, the washing was dry when I got home from class.

Your room looks amazing, it's going to be lovely when complete. Hope we wil get to see it again when you are working in there.

  15. Oh what a lovely inviting and light craft room. I bet you can't wait to get all you stuff organized. But first you have family coming so I suppose you'll have to wait.
Thank you for stopping by earlier on. Yes, it is lovely here in Spain, and we're not even on the coast (where it is warmer). I've spent the afternoon sitting in the sun on a terrace doing some hand sewing (shortening a pair of trousers), and it was so hot! I hope that one day you will get the opportunity to move to Spain. We certainly have no regrets about selling our house in the UK.
I smiled when I read that you have the same paper pad. Yes, it's very nice paper. Ideal for cards.
Have a lovely week and enjoy your family's visit. God bless.

  16. Woot a new crafty space...awesome! I love the color of green...thinking about doing a bathroom that color! I thought I would cull out a lot of stuff when I moved into this bigger room but it seems like the crafty crap became fruitful and multiplied. I had a friend over the other day and she made some snippy remarks about shopping at Vickie's store and I was so embarrassed about my collection of stuff for days. Then I thought oh well she is just jealous and let it go but I do have a lot of stuff...probably more then I will ever use up! Thanks for stopping by my desk! Have a creative week! Vickie #17

  23. Poor you with all that disruption with the plastering etc. but it will be great once you get straight again. I laughed at the things "falling into your flexibasket" lol lol!! The wax sealing stuff sounds most intriguing and I look forward to hearing more about that.

Thanks for your visit and your nice comment. The soap making is brilliant! I strained and bottled my lavender oil today and it smells amazing... Our class tonight was awesome and I am mega thrilled with the results. I hope to do a post tomorrow about it.

Crazy kitties, liking going to the vet's!! Lol!

  25. LOL! Who DOESN'T have stuff fall into their basket whenever they are stash shopping. Fell better soon, get crafting and be sure to share. I am so curious.... :)
Now Word verification is gone I can carry on :)

    Happy happy WOYWW!

  26. Well as you said, it can be an advantage to start up new. At least you will know what is in your stash. I am surprised every day what I have and what I am missing (mostly find it after I bought new stuff).
    Cheers

  27. Unbelievable how a room looks so different when everything is out of it, have lots of fun putting it all back, you probably have by now, and then you can get round to making Christmas cards, instead of buying a box of charity ones.

  28. I hope you managed to get everything done before your family came - or (maybe even better?) did they help? Do take care of yourself and relax every once in a while... your health is important! Have a nice (creative?) weekend! Happy (much belated) woyww and a hug from Holland, Marit #44

  29. Thanks for your visit and good wishes, Ali. The Manor House that I made is very well liked. It is a bit of a challenge, especially if you haven't tried any of Mary Kowal's 3D files before. The Peony Cottage is a smaller one and might be a good start. Mary has a new house file out -- I HAVE to buy it! Love your craft space. That green is bright and cheery. It should put you in a Christmassy mood! Happy crafting.

  30. That green is gorgeous though! Good luck with all that moving and shifting!

Thanks for stopping by to see me already.

  32. Hi Ali,

I didn't realize you have fibromyalgia. I have that also, in addition to SLE Lupus. If you ever need to share send me an email! I know how difficult it can be to get motivated - and I hope you were able to get the guest room cleared out for company! Like you, I wait until the last minute too. Why I do that to myself is a mystery!

Your craft room is one nice room! Can't wait to see what it looks like with all your goodies in it.

I honestly don't know what made me buy a bright pink Christmas tree but I'm glad I did! It actually fits quite well with my Desert Rose dishes! tee hee.

Thank you for visiting me earlier. I'm slowly making my way around to desks. It will be an all weekend affair!
    Happy belated WOYWW,
    Peace, Kay (12)

  33. Ah yes, sorting out and going through the stuff to keep/get rid of is always a tough but good thing. :-)

Sealing wax! I've been looking for some, as I have several seals that I've had for many years, but can't find the wax to go with them.

Thanks for your visit to my blog and for the nice comments. Sorry I'm late visiting this week.

    Happy belated Woyww,
