WOYWW 181

In order to keep this post shorter, I did an extra update yesterday - see here if you want to read more about my life at the moment (long and chatty comments very welcome!).

Happy WOYWW to everyone that I do not manage to visit.  As usual, if you have no idea what WOYWW is, take a trip over to Julia at her blog, Stamping Ground, and there you will find a very long list of crafters showing off their workspaces on a Wednesday - and a linky for you to join in (Panic - It is 6 am in the UK and no post from Julia yet!!!!  ETA - panic over; Julia has changed her posting time to give us in this part of the world a better chance of getting higher on the list - yes, there is a competition to get to No.1 ).

My first photo is of an item that I have admired from afar for a while.  Yes, Julia's 'Ipad Holder/deckchair-thingy' !!  I was shopping in Lakeland in Llanelli on Saturday - and there they were.  A lovely big pile of them - and one just fell into my basket.  I do not even have an Ipad or any other tablet - but my notebooks sit nicely on it, and even my hubby admired it (and it was a good opportunity to then hint that everyone else has a tablet on their's - and how much I would like one!!).

I then have 2 photos of my desk from yesterday - yes, I do get it messy occasionally!  I even left it slightly untidy overnight, as I had started attempting to do some teabag folding for the first time (as part of my study course), and didn't want to lose any of the annoying little bits of paper!!  (I don't think that teabag folding will be a big part of my crafting in the future.)

Apologies for the first one being a bit blurry - must have moved my phone as I took the piccy.

They show a tag being produced.  Glue, papers, inkpads, stamp, card ......

Now, a quick piccy of the wonderful angel that JoZart sent to me as part of her Angel Swap.  I now have to make 2 angels (another panic coming on!). Wish me luck - I have never done anything like this before, not even in primary school.  I have some ideas, but my physical crafting skills will probably not live up to what is in my head.

  1. If your husband is like my husband he will probably tell me that he hopes the iPad falls in my cart like the chair did! I have been looking for one of the chairs but I don't think they are being retailed here in the states. Love the Angel! I have never done teabag folding but don't know if I want to look into it sounds like you were put out by it! Thanks for sharing and have a great week. Vickie #2

  2. Never done teabag folding but it sounds a bit tedious, hope you survived.
I read back and see you decided not to open a brick and mortar shop. I think you have enough health issues that you were wise not to pursue it. You need to take care of you!
I have horrid health too and I know I could not do it either.

Now, work from home...that sounds more doable!

  3. I tried to email you back but you are a 'blogger/no reply' something or other... My craft room is the conservatory so just in case I get visitors, or the boys come to sit with me, there is extra seeting - oh, and I sometimes lie down in there too - and watch the tv which is mahoosive when you're sat under it! for now though, the cat has adopted a cardboard box which was randomly there several weeks ago - so now it's got a blanket in the bottom. Mind you, i'm going to serve her an ASBO because she keeps trashing the walls by scratching. Good job they're not wallpapered LOL!!!

Hope you're OK health-wise, doesn't sound like you're too good. Take it easy, people will understand - if not, tough!!!

I Like your way of thinking. Get the ipad chair, tell hubby everyone has an ipad on theirs... ten out of ten for trying!

    hugs

  4. Hi Ali,

Love the iPad deck chair. I'd put books and all sorts on it. Had a chuckle at your craft career prospects looking dim in the tea bag department. Mmmm.

And I love that angel from Jo. I saw them in the making on her desk and finished angel is ...erm, angelic, no but really, it has a placcid face and glorious colour.

Now I have to confess that you probably know 99% more about Neighbours than I do, but at least you know about chooks. Ain't it silly! Great you came to visit, thanks.

    Cheers,

  7. Morning, thanks for letting me peek into your creative world this morning. I'm the recipient of one of Jo's angels too. Aren't they fab; the ones I made are a little less complicated but I enjoyed making them.

  9. Wonderful items and amazing desk! I love the '...and one just fell into my basket' Wonder if I can use that reasoning with my ebay purchases the other day?! Nope, I don't think it works as well ;o) Happy WOYWW! xxx Laura #51

  10. I missed retuning your visit last week so you are on my list for this week!

How feakin' cute is that angel?? Now I really wish I had made the time to take part. It's just the sort of thing I would add to our tree, as we are all about the folksy, home-made ornaments and very much NOT about the big sparkly balls :D

    Lucky you !

    Happy WOYWW!

  20. Hi Ali I think my life may be too short to fold a teabag! Sure once you get going your angels will come together - maybe a quick chat with your personal guardian angel would be worthwhile! Great pad chair! Might need to pop down to Trostre for one too! Have the pad - managed to convince much beloved how much we needed it a few weeks ago! Samsung galaxy it's great ! Have a great week! 22. It's funny how these things just kind of 'fall' of shelves in shops just as we walk past!!!! I never know how that happens either!! I have also been admiring the holder thing...maybe Julia should get commission from the company!!!
Love your Desk and thanks for visiting mine:) Shame about your Cuttlebug. I wanted the Sizzix mainly caus my hands are no longer strong enough to emboss anything by hand. Going to check out your Pinterest now:)

  23. Hi Ali
The ipad chair is great. I don't have a tablet but I am sure I would put the chair to good use.
I can't find any way to contact you privately on here, so do send me an e-mail with your address so I can send you my phone number before you come out on holiday. I am down on the Playa on Thursday morning selling mince-pies at my friends 'fat club'. That's an odd combination isn't it? I'm usually down there a couple of times a week. It's my second nearest supermarket.
I hate to tell you this, but after a relatively pleasant week, my local forecast shows grey and rainy again for Monday and Tuesday. It only shows a week in advance so I don't know what to expect after that. I do hope the sun shines for you.

  25. Love your desk and all that's going on there! Lovely mess means you've been busy making lovely crafty things!
pleased your angel has landed and that you like it too and hope she'll bring happiness in her new home. i've started getting angels here and they are so different, crochet, stitched, card, felt so anything goes and it's great to get something unique to the person who made it. Just do what you like to do! It's all just a bit of fun.

  26. I've always admired Julia's deck chair too, never seen them over here though. My daughter has to have an ipad for school next year, so we will have an ipad but not chair. Maybe we should get together (he he).

The angel you got was gorgeous, good luck with making yours. I bet they will be wonderful.
    Have a great week.

  28. Yes, I have tried teabg folding and can't say it is for me either. Far too fiddly and bitty for my liking. Same with iris folding. Give me big pieces of paper to deal with any time.!! Your angel looks lovely and I'm sure the ones you make will be just as good.

  35. I have been looking a a holder when I saw it on WOYWW when I first joined. I then realized that I have one in Florida but it's a recipe book holder. Does the same thing. Don't you just love how things just fall into your basket.
